Road Scholar Programs
The Tallman has a close relationship with the Road Scholar Program, which puts on outstanding multi-day adult education and travel programs throughout the world. We have four such 5-day programs scheduled for 2012. Participants in each one enjoy our first rate accommodations and meals and get an intimate introduction to the wonders of Lake County. The Tallman owners and staff are directly involved in arranging speakers and field trips that would be impossible on an individual visit.
The first two programs are coming up in May, 2012. The first, from May 6 to May 11, is a wine week aptly named "North of Napa: Wine Country the Way it Used to Be." This will be our fourth wine program - highly rated by all participants. Click here to get a feel for the week by viewing a photo album compiled by Doug Wilke, a participant from Denver in our October 2011 program. And learn more by viewing the program page on the Road Scholar web site. This program will be repeated October 14-19, 2012.
The other program from May 20 to May 25 is a Backcountry Birding Adventure led by Brad Barnwell, a knowledgeable and engaging personality who has just completed marvelous book called "The Birds of Lake County," a copy of which will go to each participant. Clear Lake is home to some 300 bird species and viewing will be at it's peak for this Spring hiking, kayaking and pontoon boating adventure. Learn more at the program page on the Road Scholar web site.
The final 2012 program September 23-28 is called North of Napa: A Cultural Exploration of Historic Wine Country. We did this program last year and it was a real success - one day on the natural history of the lake, one on the wine industry, one on local farms and foods, and the final day with some of our truly great musicians. Learn more at the program page on the Road Scholar web site.
