The Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, California is a return to a simpler time. This handsome country hotel, built in the 1890's, was completely restored and expanded to a 17-room luxury facility between 2004 and 2006. The historic hotel received one of seven statewide historic preservation awards in 2007 from the California Heritage Council and, in July 2008, it was officially listed on the California Register of Historic Resources as a Point of Historical Interest.
The interiors of the hotel are inspired by the natural setting of Lake County. Antique and custom crafted furniture, hand painted murals and artwork depicting flora and fauna create simple yet sophisticated surroundings. Eastlake style furniture decorates the guestrooms.
Features of Lake County's first and only country boutique hotel include:
• Spacious guestrooms, some with private Japanese Ofuro soaking tubs.
• High speed Internet
• Swimming pool & hot tub
• Blue Wing Saloon & Café
• Executive boardroom
•Private garden patios and balconies
The Tallman is ideal for special events and corporate retreats
A collection of working gardens produces vegetables and flowers for the hotel. A set of cottages, out-buildings and a swimming pool complete the bucolic scene.
The authentic look and feel of the hotel transports patrons back in time -- but geo-exchange heating and cooling systems, solar panels on the roof and modern facilities all produce a comfortable, state-of-the-art, eco-friendly environment.
The Tallman Hotel (25 miles east of Ukiah on Route 20) is less than two-and-one-half hours from both San Francisco and Sacramento, in the heart of Lake County and only minutes from Clear Lake (California's largest natural lake). Lake County is California's newest up-and-coming wine region, located just north of Napa and Sonoma Counties. From boating and bass fishing to hiking and wine touring, there are many interesting things to do during your stay.
The Tallman Hotel offers government and per diem rates. Please call the hotel directly for pricing and availability.
Here are excerpts from a letter to the Tallman from Congressman Mike Thompson dated November 6, 2009:
"I cannot thank you enough for the incredible hospitality you provided me and my guests from Washington, DC.... My guests are world travelers who have likely stayed in some of the grandest hotels on earth, and every one of them raved about the unparalleled elegance, comfort and service they experienced at the Tallman....
"It was one of the nicest weekends in memory in large part because of you and your staff. Your hotel is a shining example of the best Lake County has to offer, and I am so grateful for your presence in the community.
Sincerely, Mike Thompson"
